Is the Magicjack service compatible with mac? The answer to this is YES !! The neat part about the magicjack service on mac is it is plug and play just like the PC version. The setup process automatically downloads the update when you plug it into the computer. Again always remember in order for your magicjack service to work you must have access to the internet. If you are using a Mac Mini , make sure you do not use the USB port on the keyboard. Instead the actual magicjack service needs to be plugged into an available port on your computer or a powered usb hub.

When i got my first magic jack, the big question i had was how is the sound quality. From an expert who has been using magic jack for quite some time now i am proud to say absolutely amazing.

If your confused about the above don’t worry. you do not need to get anything except a computer / laptop, and access to the internet to make your magic jack work. If you want the luxury of using a home phone to send and receive calls then just buy any home phone with a regular phone jack and plug it into the magic jack, making sure your magic jack is plugged into a computer / laptop that has access to the internet, and call away.
In order to receive calls on your magic jack you must have your computer/laptop on, not in standby mode. If you have a phone hooked up to your magic jack unit and your computer is on, your actual phone will ring when someone calls you. A lot of people buy mini laptops and leave them on with the magic jack hooked up to their home phone so that they don’t have to ever miss a call.
When you plug your magic jack in your computer/laptop it takes 1-2 minutes before you can actually make or receive a call. Many people leave there computer on always so this is not an issue. If your computer is off or your magic jack is not plugged into your computer, They will get your voice mail.
I really like the phone book feature as well. You can save a contact and no matter where you go with your magic jack you will have all your contact there. See Below

The Magic Jack is packed with features of the price you pay. The voicemail feature is one of my favorites. Whenever I get a voicemail the actual recording gets sent directly to my email. This Feature is Included FREE !

Another feature I use a lot is call forwarding. This is extremely important for my magic jack business line. When I leave my office I always forward the number to my cell phone. I searched everywhere and found that all the other phone companies out there all charge per the minute for call forwarding. Guess what with the magic jack I don’t pay a dime to forward all my calls from my magic jack number to my cell phone. This Feature is Included FREE !
Built in Software. If you do not have an actual phone, you can use the built in software to your magic jack unit that will use your computer / laptop’s microphone and speakers. I use this a lot when i travel. This Feature is Included FREE !
Change your phone number. Ladies, that man still in love with you and you want to change your number ??? Or how about the men out there, have that ex girlfriend that won’t leave you alone??? well for a small fee magic jack lets you change your number to a completely new one. The fee is very in expensive. I had to do this once and I paid $10.
Call Waiting. If you are on the phone with someone and another person calls you, simply press the flash button to link over to the other line. This Feature is Included FREE !
Caller Id. Now this is something to where I hope they upgrade their services to. With the caller id it will only show the caller’s phone number, not the actual name. This Feature is Included FREE!
All in all for an initial cost of $39.99 for the unit, $10/year for a Canadian Number, and $19.99 per year for the service, it still is a no brainer to me why I have 3 of these units.

The initial setup is not hard at all. The initial setup will take an estimated 20-45 minutes depending on how fast you click through. The last time i recall calling my phone company to get a home phone line put in it took days before the technician can come over to install it, and i had to wait forever on hold until i can talk to a live person. With the magic jack they do not do any credit checks or anything. The simple to use step by step installation features they have in place makes your initial setup a breeze.

When setting up your magic jack you will have to give them your name and address. So far i have never got any solicit mail from them whats so ever and i really don’t see it happening at all. The will ask you for your address to be put on file for 911 emergencies in the case you need to call 911. During the initial setup you will have the option to choose a vanity number. This is neat for businesses or people wanting to pick there last 4 digits of there magic jack Canada phone number.

A lot of people asked me after the initial setup how long it is until i can start making calls ? well the answer to that is Right away !!! All of my magic jack units i purchased all worked right after the initial setup. If you have no experience with computers what so ever, your in luck with the setup process because they made it extremely user friendly. As a matter of fact, i made my mother setup her own to test and see if this were true and sure enough yes it was She does not use a computer nor has she in the past .
